At this time of year, things really start to get busy at the farm. Outside we sow lettuce, onion sets, garlic, Swiss chard. In the polytunnels, all types of vegetables are sown. As weather allows, hardy vegetables sown last month are planted outside. The apple trees in our orchards are blossoming, Turkeys, geese and chickens hatch around about now, and need looking after. Chicks need heat, feed and water and are checked at least three times a day and their brooders kept as clean as possible. Lambs are growing well and now is the time to keep a careful eye out for mastitis in ewes and fly strike on all sheep. See what's happening in |
