Conservation

The farm entered Defra's Countryside Stewardship Scheme in the 1990s.  As a consequence new hedgerows were created, field margins were introduced and high quality habitat is now maturing.  It is in its second phase and includes wildlife food mixes, winter stubble, pond creation and improved access.

The farm habitats support a number of nationally declining species including grey partridge, yellowhammers, bullfinches, linnets and skylarks.

Other important species include brown hares, newts and bats - especially pipstrelles.  A large number of bird species have been recorded in the area with the focus on Swallow Pond.
