| The Adult Services Day Centre managed by North Tyneside Council is a
tenant of the farm and carries out many of the horticultural
activities. This Day Centre provides training for people with
learning disabilities. It operates from a purpose-built
single story building next to the Rising Sun Farmhouse.
The Day Service has a close relationship with the Farm and teaches
horticultural skills (using the adjoining land and polythene tunnels),
animal husbandry/care and craft skills and provides personal
development and social skills training for service users.
Staff and trainees make produce from fruit and vegetables grown on
the farm and honey from hives within the Park. Organic
vegetables and fruit from the farm are also sold to the public.
There is the opportunity for trainees to access leisure courses such
as horticulture, jam making and bird watching.
