We prepare the new soft fruit beds outdoors, ready to receive strawberries in November. Tomato plants are pulled out as they finish cropping and the plants are hung upside down from the roof of the polytunnel to encourage the final fruits to ripen. We take the last crops from sweetcorn, and pumpkin vines are left to die down before the fruit are harvested. The vacated tomato bed is mucked and prepared to receive winter vegetables such as brassicas (spring cabbage and winter cauliflower).

Lambs are weaned and separated from their mothers. The tup (ram) is introduced to the ewes. In the hedgerows, haws and rosehips provide welcome food for birds.
